Update: June 22, 2026

Primary voters need to see on the go and read about Nate Powell's bio, priorities, and how he's the only candidate who can beat Michael Baumgartner in November. Once that is done, voters should see the same message on broadcast and cable television.

Background

Most important: Nate Powell is a Firefighter, Marine veteran, and a father.

Secondary: Nate Powell is a union member, MMA fighter, and was born and raised in Eastern Washington.

Priorities

Nate Powell is running for Congress because Eastern Washington families continue to work harder but are falling further and further behind. This isn’t by accident. Billionaires and corporations have spent decades writing the rules in their favor, rigging our economy, and buying the politicians who let them do it. No matter who we send to Congress, things keep getting worse for working families and better for them.

Nate's core priorities are:

Undo corporate influence over our government and elections, and root out corruption in DC.

- Lower costs for working families.

- Pass Medicare for All.

- Confront our national debt by cutting taxpayer-funded giveaways to giant corporations, and stop them from shifting the cost onto working families.

Viability

Voters should understand not only who Nate is and what he stands for, but also that he has built a broad coalition of support and demonstrated a credible path to defeating Michael Baumgartner.

Nate has earned the sole endorsement of the Washington State Labor Council (WSLC) - the largest labor organization in Washington made up of more than 650 local unions representing over 600,000 members - and the Washington State Council of Fire Fighters (WSCFF) representing 111 locals.

Nate was also accepted into End Citizens United's "Unrig Washington" campaign, where he pledged to clean up Congress by banning Congressional stock trading, refuse corporate PAC money, and crack down on dark money.

Without taking corporate PAC money, Nate has raised more per quarter than any other challenger.

Polling by Tavern Research shows that Nate is the only candidate who can beat Michael Baumgartner. Nate leads Baumgartner (53-47) while Baumgartner leads all Democrats.
