FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
May 7, 2026
SPOKANE, Wash. – Congressional candidate and firefighter Nate Powell has announced the launch of a district-wide town hall tour across Eastern Washington, beginning this May.
The May schedule marks the first leg of a broader town hall tour with stops in every county across Washington’s 5th Congressional District.
“People everywhere feel ignored by politicians because their representatives vote consistently in favor of special interests and party bosses, ignoring the wallets of their constituents,” Powell said. “This campaign is about giving working families a voice in Congress, but that starts with listening.”
The events will focus on issues affecting working people across Eastern Washington, including the rising cost of living, economic pressures on small businesses and family farms, access to rural healthcare, and government accountability.
“We’ve seen tax breaks tilted toward massive corporations instead of small businesses, paid for with cuts to rural hospitals and other services our communities depend on, while rising fuel and fertilizer costs continue crushing family farms,” Powell said. “People here are tired of watching politicians protect corporate profits while working families are asked to absorb higher costs and fewer services.”
Nate Powell is a Spokane firefighter, Marine veteran, and father running for Congress in Washington’s 5th Congressional District as an Independent candidate.
